ok forst of all the exe file for freelancer is like a dll file. you need resourse hacker or editor . i use res hack

took me a few tries to understand that i had to do BOTH FLserver.exe AND FL.exe....... and during the process i changed the version numbers on server.dll 
but it didn't seem to affect anything so i left it.....

yeah only the two exe files get changed.
